Good morning, fellow bibliophiles! I hope you had a lovely weekend. I've been doing a lot of reading, but not so much review writing/posting, so you can look forward to a lot of reviews posted to the blog this week.
This past week, I read:
Pigeon English
By Stephen Kelman
The Boy in the Suitcase
By Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Friis
Rescue
By Anita Shreve
All of those should have reviews up this week. Also keep an eye out for a review for The Tiger's Wife, which is a long time coming. Did anyone else read that one and have a really hard time writing about it?
This past week, I did a "It's Monday, what are you reading?" post and a "Wednesdays with David," as well as posting a review of The God of Small Things.
This week, I hope to read:
Turn of Mind
By Alice LaPlante
Room
By Emma Donoghue (Finally! Am I the last one in the world to read this one?)
A Good Hard Look
By Ann Napolitano
We're off to enjoy one last pool day at my Grammy's. :) What are you reading this Labor Day??
I've heard really good things about Turn of Mind and Room. I hope you enjoy your reading this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! Those all look really interesting, judging by the book covers - oh for shame! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI've read Room. It was okay. I hated the ending though, I had so many questions that went unanswered and it was so sloppy. It took me a while to get into as well because it's written in a 5 year old's pov.
Oh and as for your question about leaving links in comments. They are in HTML, so you have to leave an HTML code for the link. Here's a place that will show you how to do it :)
It has been years since I read The God of Small Things but I recall being completely swept up in the prose. So much so that the story took the back seat to the wonderful writing. I'll be curious to hear what you think of Room.

ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week and happy reading.

I've heard so many good things about Room. I can't wait to see what you think of it.

The Boy in the Suitcase - what an interesting title! I hope the boy is all right though.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wonderful reading week for you. I'm also looking forward to reading Room.
Wow lots of good books here! I think Pigeon English sounds interesting, and I just read good things about A Good Hard Look.
ReplyDeleteHope your week was good!!
Hi, just found your blog through this meme, looks great. I have been meaning to read Room for a long time. I read the first chapter in a bookstore and thought it was great and more recently a friend has recommended it to me so I will be on the look out for a copy of it
