Another week, another group of books! This week has been a little slow reading wise. I finished reading The Hobbit, which took me a lot longer to read than I anticipated! Now I'm reading The Teleportation Accident, which is...interesting so far. Has anyone read it already? What did you think?
It's been a busy week around here. This is a crazy time of year for a couple who works together at a church! Easter is right around the corner and there is a lot to do. David...sniffle...got....sob...a big boy bed. He loves it. I will get used to it sooner or later. We also lost our family pet this week. Fishy was a great goldfish. He made a move across county lines with us and survived an accidental food dump in his tank. David seems to be handling it pretty well, but it's still sad for our family. On Thursday, I drove down to see my best friend for a few days. Now usually we fit in some reading during our weekends together. But this time, we obviously had to marathon the entire first season of Veronica Mars. You understand, right?

What are you reading this week?
As a Pastor's secretary, I understand the busyness! Glad the big boy bed is fun. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI hope your week goes smoothly then, at work and with your books. :)
DeleteI know, I cant believe that Easter is next week already... with all the snow we have here it doesn't feel like it
ReplyDeleteI know! It snowed here for a bit today, but then it turned to rain.
DeleteThe Teleportation Accident seems pretty cool! Did you like it?
ReplyDeleteI'm a new GFC follower, here's my It's Monday post for this week.
Happy reading :)
I'm about halfway through. It's interesting, but I'm not loving it yet.
DeleteI'm so glad you are following - thanks! :)
Interesting! Teleportation Accident, eh? Off to find out more on Amazon!
ReplyDeleteHere's my It's Monday! Hope you'll stop by!
Dashing off to check out new books is one of my favorite parts of this meme. Let me know if you decide to read it - I would love to hear what you think!
DeleteI can see that the week before Easter would be very busy. I hope you manage to fit in some reading time. Come see what I read at Inside of a Dog. Have a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope so too!!
DeleteIt's hard to believe Easter is right around the corner and yet we're still getting snow! Hopefully today's storm doesn't amount to much.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and I hope you'll come see what I've been reading at Always With a Book.
Our snow turned into rain pretty quickly around here. It is strange that Easter is so early. Easter should mean pretty spring dresses, not sweaters!
DeleteThe Teleportation Accident sounds fascinating, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy Monday Post
Eva @ All Books Considered
Let me know what you think if you read it!
DeleteI remember hearing about The Teleportation Accident when it was on the Man Booker Long (Short?) List last year. Thanks for reminding me about it! Curious to see what you think!
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It did make the short list last year! I don't remember where I first saw it mentioned, but I think it was just published here in the US.
DeleteThe Hobbit is one of those books that I know I should read, but most likely will never read. I hope you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy it, but I didn't adore it. I wonder if the people who love Tolkien most are the ones who first read him when they were kids...
DeleteOh MAN! The Teleportation Accident - I love the title. Hope it's as good as the book title.
ReplyDeleteSad for your family pet. My granddaughter had a goldfish she won at the fair, it died after a week. She named it Cinnamon. She was pretty sad for it, though she only had it for a week, but then kids get attached pretty fast. Being pretty young, she also got over it pretty fast. Little ones seems to do their grieving quick and intense. No holding back, but then they also don't hang onto the grief for too long (I'm talking four or five). We should try things their way.
It's sad when the kids move into their big boy beds - means they're growing up, and they always grow up too fast, don't they? I'm working on having my GRANDCHILDREN growing up way too fast.
Happy Easter!
Fishy was a birthday present in December 2011, so he's been around for a while. I was ready to be very compassionate and tell David how it was ok to be sad about his fish. But then he remarked how happy he was that we lived close to a pet store and could go pick out a replacement! Kids always keep you on your toes, that's for sure!
DeleteI hope you have a very happy Easter too. :)
I reread the Hobbit a few months ago, before the movie came out in theaters, and I was surprised that it took me longer than I expected as well. It seems like children's books were written a bit differently back then as opposed to now! Hope you enjoyed it :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your pet fish, but it's good that your son is handling it well!
I think there is something about epic fantasy books (I noticed this when I read Redwall too) that just demands you take your time and sort of meander along the journey. How did you enjoy the movie??
DeleteI do understand! Veronica Mars is a great show XD And I love the book you read, great choices all around.
