It's Monday and life is moving right along...

Hi there friends. How are you doing? I hope you had a wonderful week with lots of great books.

We had fun this week at David's school for Literacy Night. All of the kids came to school in their pajamas and heard a story, did an activity, and then had some cookies and juice. The best part was that each child brought a book to swap so David went home with a new Star Wars book (of course). I'm so glad that his school is working overtime to foster a love of reading in their students.

  2. Love the idea of a book swap! I don't think we've ever done that at my school. I think I'll introduce the idea at our next Literacy PLC meeting.

    Here's my It's Monday!

    1. They were so on top of things! You dropped off your book when you came in and by the end of the evening, they had them all sorted out by genre. If you end up doing it at your school, let me know! I would love to hear about it.

  3. I want to read The Lost Sisterhood. Wonder what you thought of it. I just love the Literacy Night at David's school! Wow, such a great idea to make reading a fun idea for the kids who don't have parents who foster reading for pleasure at home. Hope more schools go along with this event.

    1. It was a lot of fun. It's one of those non-stop adventure type stories.

I really appreciated all of the hard work that everyone put into Literacy Night. It was a lot of fun for David and his friends!

    1. It's always fun to look at new books, even if they are not your usual genre. Although then I panic at the sheer number of books in the world...
      Have a great week!

  5. Great to hear the school is putting so much effort in reading! Often you hear different stories. The Wife, The Maid And The Mistress is on my TBR. Hope you will enjoy it. Have a great week!

    1. I don't think David needs too much help to pick up a book but it was great to see all of the teachers and administrators there. I know they work hard already and then they put in extra time for events like this one.

  6. The Lost Sisterhood has a nice cover and looks intriguing. David's school sounds so sweet. My 16yo dd decided to have a book swap and tea party for her birthday. The girls each brought a book wrapped-up to trade in a "white elephant" style game. It was so much fun!

  7. Literacy Night sounds like great fun! Greyson's pre-school just finished celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday with a bunch of really cool activities. He had a blast! Cheers to schools who foster a love of books and reading!

    1. That sounds great. I think David's school did that too - they had the kids dress up in red and white and read some Dr. Seuss books. Doesn't it make you feel so confident when you are sending your little guy to a place that goes the extra mile?? :)
