What are you reading this week?
I will be honest and say I didn't enjoy Moby Dick very much when I read it in high school, but haven't reread it since. I am wondering if you liked We Were Liars. I have it, but haven't read it and won't get to it this week for sure.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
I can't imagine reading this for class! It took me a whole month to get through.
DeleteI liked We Were Liars, but I'm not sure it lives up to all of the hype.
Like to hear your views on the St Aubyn book
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to read it! It will be my first book by that author.
DeleteYay for you, and summer! Love the cover of Lost for Words, will have to check it out :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week,
Shelleyrae @ Book'd Out
Thanks Shelleyrae. Doesn't summer just make you feel like you could read all of the books??
DeleteCan you hear me? Can you see me? I'm giving you a standing ovation. You deserve it.
ReplyDeleteHere's my It's Monday!
Thanks Deb!! :)
DeleteI read Moby-Dick back-in-the-day and it took me f-o-r-e-v-e-r so I can definitely understand why it took you a full month to finish. Kudos on sticking with it though. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm always curious about why certain books become classics and why they stay that way.
DeleteNice assortment. I've read two of the books you finished this week. Guess which one I missed! Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I think I will figure it out eventually...
DeleteYou are awesome! I have never ever cracked Moby Dick open. And not sure if I dare to. Hahah!
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you! It is a serious undertaking!
DeleteHow was Moby Dick? My roommate and I are planning a reading challenge in the future with Moby Dick, and we are both a little intimidated. Was it hard to read?
ReplyDeleteIt's very long. The story itself is not very long, but the narrator weaves it into a lot of biology of whales and the logistics of whaling. It's not hard to read and the chapters are pretty short, which helps a lot!
DeleteWoooo! Congrats on finishing Moby Dick! I don't know if I could do it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andi. I'm feeling pretty accomplished today! :)
DeleteWow, congratulations! One of my closest friends just finished Moby Dick, too - she really enjoyed it. I am slogging my way through another hefty classic, Emma, but have been kind of bored by it. I guess that's sacrilege for Austen fans, huh?
ReplyDeleteI loved We Were Liars on audio - so compelling - I finished it in less than a week which is fast for me!
Enjoy your books this week -

Hmm..I bet We Were Liars was great on audio. I find audiobooks sort of hit and miss. YA would probably be a great way to go! Thanks for the thought, Sue. :)
DeleteI'm impressed that you finished Moby Dick. That's one I haven't read...and is NOT on my list. Congratulations on getting through it! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I have to confess that when I put it on my list, I think I had confused its length with the length of The Old Man and the Sea...
DeleteAt least I can check it off of my literary bucket list!
I'm assuming you didn't read Moby Dick AND all those other books in just one week! I think Moby Dick is worth the effort, although it took me a long time to finally read the behemoth! Now I am ready for a reread....
ReplyDeleteHaha no! I suppose the exact thing to say is that I finished reading Moby Dick after working on it for several weeks. I also started and finished the other two books during this week!
DeleteOh man! Moby Dick is quite the commitment. Way to go on finishing it and some other books. I keep wanting to pick up We Were Liars but I think I need to wait until everyone has forgotten about it. Hope you loved it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Trish. I enjoyed We Were Liars, but I would definitely recommend that you wait until the hype dies down. I think I would have liked it more if everyone and their mother weren't saying it was the best thing since sliced bread...
DeleteI hope you enjoy Lost for Words! I couldn't quite decide whether the satire was biting or soft, but I thought it was amusing to read.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying it so far. It's my first book by the author, so I'm not really sure how to categorize it yet. Have you read others by St. Aubyn? Are all of his books satires?
