It's Monday - tell me about your books!!

Am I the only person who feels as if they need another week off after a vacation? Getting back into a routine is not easy. It doesn't help that it has been miserable and rainy/sleeting here in NJ after soaking in the Florida sun.

I'm pleased to report that reading went well this week. Station Eleven deserves every bit of praise it has been earning and the second Veronica Mars book was perfect for a wonderful binge read.

Read This Week:
By Emily St. John Mandel

Mr. Kiss and Tell (Veronica Mars, #2)
By Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham

Your Left-Handed Child: Making things easy for left-handers in a right-handed world
By Lauren Milsom

A Short Autobiography (for Jazz Age January!)

    1. I try to find a balance. I like light and fluffy but I also appreciate a book that makes me work a little bit!

  2. I've read The Sun Also Rises twice and found parts of it fascinating and other parts downright irritating. But I still want to read a lot more Hemingway - interesting character! (I read one of his autobiographical books for a book club, about lion hunting; no matter what I think of an individual book, there's something about his writing that draws me in.)

Yes I could use some more "me" time, that's for sure! Hope the weather improves for you - it's lovely down here in Tassie. :)

    1. I have to confess that I'm probably starting Hemingway with a bias. I have read a lot of books by/about F Scott Fitzgerald and they had quite the tempestuous friendship. He was certainly not one to hide his opinions, was he??

    1. It's one of those few books that makes you really marvel at an author's talent. I hope you get to read it soon, Lindsay!

    1. Thanks Shannon. I'm excited - I've read short stories and excerpts, but it's my first time reading a Hemingway novel.

    1. Usually there are at least a few readers who don't enjoy a book. But I have heard only good things about Station Eleven! :)

  7. I didn't know Fitzgerald had an autobiography - I'll have to check it out :)

    1. To be fair, it's a collection of his essays that was put together after he died. Apparently Fitzgerald really wanted to write an autobiography, but his editor wasn't too keen on the idea.

  8. Man, I really have to get to Station Eleven soon. Everyone loves it!

I was lying in bed thinking about vacations the other day, and how exhausting it is to use vacation days at work for things that are fun but busy. I decided this year I will take a staycation and just hang at home for a while. So I totally understand your exhaustion!

    1. I said the same thing to my husband! We decided that our next trip would be sans children and we would find somewhere we could just relax, without having to go anywhere!

  12. Oooh, I'm so glad that you enjoyed Station Eleven. I really, really liked that one. glad that a writer I've admired for so long is finally gettng the accolades she deserves.

I never read The Sun Also Rises, but I think I decided when reading A Moveable Feast that I didn't want to. Hope it's more to your taste than it is to mine!

    1. It's funny because I always thought of Hemingway as one of the pillars of 20th century fiction, but I'm seeing a lot of people saying that they don't really like his work (or Hemingway himself!).

  13. Oh, I am dying to read Station Eleven! it sounds sooo good. Vacation in sunny Florida sounds good, too, but you are right - re-entry is always tough.

I have never read a Hemingway novel - my husband and I both want to get to that this year :)

Enjoy your books this week -

    1. Sunny Florida is good indeed, but then you have to deal with the long drive home and getting a little one back into a school routine and doing all of that laundry!

I hope you have a great week too. :)

  14. I have a copy of The Sun Also Rises that I purchased over a DECADE ago and haven't started it! I probably should get to it sooner rather than...well, I guess I can't get much later!
