It's Monday. Can we get a different week, please?

What a week. I find myself feeling particularly weary. Parenting has been a bit, well, challenging this week. People seem to be particularly nasty and careless lately. I feel like we could all use a little bit of kindness and a few easy days right about now.

Anyway, let's talk books! I read The Wicked City, a novel about a modern woman's connection to a 1920s speakeasy. I finished out the week with Uprootedwhich I have been meaning to read for way too long.

I'm still reading Faithfully Feminista collection of essays about Christian, Jewish, and Muslim women who make space for feminism within their faith. I like reading essay collections, but I usually find myself needing some faster reading to go with it, so I'm reading Margaret Atwood's Hag-Seed

What are you reading this week?

  1. Wicked city looks like a fabulous read, such a striking ocver and love the idea of a modern woman finding a connection to the 1920's.I'll check back for your thoughts.
So sorry to hear parenting has been hard on you this week. Hang in there. I do hope some kindness shines a light your way soon.

  3. I'm in-between library books this week, so I've been rereading some old favorites...comfort books that make me happy. :)

  5. I enjoyed Uprooted. I was a little uncertain because I didn't enjoy or even finish the last couple Temeraire books. I hope life gets easier for both of us. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    1. It was my first time reading that author, but Uprooted seems to be her breakout book.

I hope your week was an uneventful one!

  7. I have Uprooted. I'm afraid it might fall into my new genre, Books-that-Only-Appeal-to-Book-People. I need to take a look at your review.

    1. Haha, I do enjoy that genre myself. I think Uprooted falls pretty squarely in the fantasy realm, so it might appeal to lots of people.
