It's Monday in a very noisy house!

Hello friends! I'm writing this on Sunday evening, where I have managed to find a tiny pocket of peace and quiet. Maybe I'm just at peak introvert lately, but I feel like my beloved children have reached new and deafening levels of noise. Summer break should be great?

This week, I read and adored Marilynne Robinson's Home. I read Gilead a while ago and I am very much looking forward to reading Lila, the third book with those characters. I also read Ramona Blue, which is the newest book from Julie Murphy (of Dumplin' fame).

Next up for me is The Almost Sisters by Joshilyn Jackson.

What are you reading this week?

  1. Ramona Blue is on my wishlist. Summer vacation has begun and so has the extreme heat. Come see what I'm reading.

  2. I hope you continue to be able to carve out a little peace and quiet time over the summer. Kids don't always like to cooperate with that!

    1. I think my kids have two settings: loud or sleeping. :)

  3. I've read Robinson's Home, and also Housekeeping, and not too long ago, I read Lila...but missed Gilead, for some reason.

Enjoy Lila...it was not my favorite, but it kept me turning the pages.

I do want to read Almost Sisters.

Enjoy some peace and quiet! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    1. Robinson is becoming one of my favorite authors, I think. She tells the story of family life so beautifully.

  4. Good luck on noise abatement. I sometimes think kids only have one volume (unless you ask them to do some public speaking when they suddenly lose their ability to speak above a whisper.) All of your books are new to me. I hope you enjoy Almost Sisters. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  5. I feel you on the noise thing. My boys are SO LOUD. But today is the first day of the 6yo's sports camp and the 4yo still has preschool so hooray it's a quiet house (for the next two hours at least!). Hope you manage to find some quiet this summer.

  6. Ramona Blue looks really good!

Glad you found a little peace and calm! Lol. My two year is currently shrieking loudly with laughter as his dad tickles him in the next room. All good but phew, loud. Lol.

    1. Maybe they should start giving out some ear protection when you leave the hospital... :)
