But still reading. Always reading. This week, I read Make Bright the Arrows and Swing Time. I finished listening to Brown Girl Dreaming as I made dinner tonight. Any suggestions for a new audiobook? Now I'm reading Bellevue and Kent Haruf's Plainsong.

What are you reading this week?
Isn't it so good to introvert, I love being with the ones I love and my goodness I love the quiet times so much!! Hope you get a good recommendation for a new audio.
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm finding it especially important to find some quiet time since I have two kids who want a lot of my time and attention.
DeleteHa ha on this: "Any suggestions for a new audiobook? Now I'm reading Bellevue and Kent Haruf's Plainsong." because you listed two awesome audiobooks! Seriously, the Haruf books are so wonderful on audio.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I will have to look for the other Haruf books on audio.
DeleteI do love "introverting," and considering the kind of career I had for thirty years (social work, with cold calls, dealing with hostile people), I knew I would be in great need of quiet time post-retirement.
ReplyDeleteSo I have definitely relished the reading and blogging phase of my life.
Enjoy your books...Bellevue and Swing Time both look tempting.
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Thank goodness for quiet reading time. I hope you enjoy your books this week!
DeleteYeah, I'm kind of like "It's Monday; no one will miss me today, right?" Have a great reading and recharging week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a relaxing Monday, Katherine!
DeleteOh, how was Swing Time for you, Lindsey? I've not read it yet, but I enjoyed her debut novel. I've been listening to a recently released audio book called Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White America by Michael Eric Dyson; it's not a feel-good listen, but it is phenomenal. - Tara at itstaraleigh.com
ReplyDeleteI liked Swing Time, but it felt a bit long to me.
DeleteI've heard good things about Tears We Cannot Stop. I will have to look it up.
Oh I get the Introvert thing...I'm a surface extrovert because I love people and talking, but I love being alone in my own house most. Alone with my books, coffee and computer most...ha ha.
ReplyDeleteBellevue intrigues me, I may try that on audio, I think it's right up my alley.
Exactly! I trained in music and theatre, so I am good at performing and coming across as friendly and confident, but I recharge best quietly at home or with one or two people who know me really well.
DeleteLet me know how the audio is if you do pick it up!
I can't believe I was a teacher...LOL!! I am an introvert at heart.
ReplyDeleteENJOY your reading week!!

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
I bet you really cherished that quiet time at the end of a school day!
DeleteI hope you are having a great week too, Elizabeth.
:) on the quiet time at the end of the day.
DeleteIt normally drives me crazy when people turn nouns into verbs (yes, I am a grammar nerd), but I love the idea of "introverting." That is my life, and it is now part of my vocabulary!
ReplyDeleteGrammar nerd here too, but that just seems too perfect. We're just watching the evolution of language, right? :)
DeleteSwing Time is so high on my list!!! I listened to Brown Girl Dreaming as well. Recently I enjoyed listening to The Talented Mr. Ripley, Assassination Vacation and Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo (great but extremely irreverent!).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the audio recommendations, Gina!!
DeleteI recently finished Stalking Jack the Ripper in audio. It was amazing!! Cheers to introverting! 🍻
ReplyDeleteI will have to look that up. I hope you had a quiet week!
DeleteI totally get what you mean by needing quiet time to recharge your mental batteries. You should check out this post at Desktop Retreat, it's all about introverts and it's great: http://desktopretreat.blogspot.com/2017/01/introverts-101.html
ReplyDeleteAre you going to review Swing Time? The description never grabbed me, but reviews still might!
ReplyDeleteLast week, I listened to Unbroken (YA Adaptation) by Laura Hillenbrand and absolutely loved it. The YA version is supposed to leave out some of the more graphic details. I also loved the audio for The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, which Oprah is turning into a TV movie on HBO later this year. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to introvert all week too! I was pretty busy last weekend and didn't get my time to recharge.
