It's Monday, who's reading something good?

Well, it's certainly been an eventful week here in the US, but it's been a relatively quiet one here at my house. At least as quiet as it can be when you have two kids! I'm trying to get into an exercise routine. I would like to do some yoga and ride the stationary bike most days. I seem to do ok for a week or so, and then life inevitably gets busy and I find myself going days or weeks without exercising. Any tips from exercising readers?

This week, I read Plainsong by Kent Haruf. It was a quiet sort of small town novel and it was good for the soul. I also read Bellevue, which examines the history of the infamous hospital and the effect it had on both New York City and modern medicine. Then I read Carli Lloyd's memoir When Nobody Was Watching, since I'm a big soccer fan and she is a fellow New Jersey girl.

Now I'm reading The Wicked City for an upcoming TLC Book Tour as well as Faithfully Feminist

What are you reading this week?

  1. Well done on the exercise front. I'm trying to get into a bit of a routine re yoga as well and I'm doing okay, but not really walking very regularly. I'm supposed to be writing today about routines but am stuck, so perhaps there's a lesson there!

  2. I feel you on the exercise front. I've been slacking this month, but I think a lot of that is burnout from the holidays. Good on you for finding time! I hope you enjoy your reads this week.

  3. Interesting assortment of books. I hope you enjoy the ones on the pile for this week. Come see my reading week here. Happy reading!

  4. Thanks for stopping by! It looks like you have some interesting reads. Enjoy :)

  5. Every day I look over at my stationary bike, sitting right there next to my bed, conveniently aimed at the TV...all systems go, right? Not so much. I need to do more.

    Good luck with your exercising...

I've been eyeing The Wicked City.

Enjoy...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  6. I really enjoyed "The Wicked City"...I hope it works for you!

  7. We know what we SHOULD do but end up doing otherwise! I'm in the same boat. I had a good routine going, working out four times a week, and then I got sick and fell off the wagon and haven't gotten back on track! For a stationary bike or treadmill, I'd recommend audiobooks. Then you can multi-task! I enjoy doing kettlebells and yoga on DVD, so unfortunately I can't listen to my books while doing them. Hope we both do better on the exercise front!

  8. Our Souls at Night was my first Haruf but it won't be my last!

  9. ENJOY The Wicked her books.

    Have a great week.
