It's Monday and November Is Here!

This was a crazy busy week! There was Halloween of course - I helped out with the party in David's class and we went trick or treating. We also had a friend's birthday party, a church potluck, and all of the other stuff that comprises a week!

And because I like you all so much, here are some cutie Halloween pictures. I give you Minnie Mouse and Optimus Prime, respectively.

Now, about those books...

  1. How are you liking Bellman & Black? I have it from Netgalley but I much prefer print books and was thinking of just buying it (the cover it has here is really lovely too, different from this one).

    1. I liked it, but I think they made a mistake calling it a ghost story. Diane Setterfield is a great writer, though.

Curious to hear what you thought of The Mad Scientist's Daughter and Bellman and Black as I still have to read both of them

    1. Thank you! They had a lot of fun.
The Mad Scientist's Daughter was a great read and Bellman and Black was good as well, although it's best if you don't treat it as a spooky story.

  3. I've been holding on to Bellman and Black because the reviews have been so mixed, I'm curious what you'll think. Love the Halloween pictures! Hope you have a great week :)

    1. I think the problem was the ghost story subtitle. It gives a lot of expectations that just aren't fulfilled.
I hope you have a great week too!

  4. I really think I must check out Bellman and Black. Those are adorable costumes on the babies! I especially love the creativity of the Minnie Mouse hat. When my kids were little instead of that nice hat, it would have been some awkward headband ears that would have needed to be attached to their heads somehow!

    1. Thanks so much! The Minnie mouse costume was a gift from friends. The hat is so easy and then you know their ears are warm too!

    1. It is a lot of fun! We are getting to the point where David knows exactly what he wants to dress up as and he does not want our input at all!

It was good, but I think it's tough to match the success she had with her debut novel.

    1. Thanks Sue. I think I will try to get her to wear it a few more times before it's too small. :)

I love Wally Lamb, so I jumped on the library request early and my library bought several copies. I'm psyched to read it.
