Hello, bookish people! How are you? How were your weekends? Ours was pretty quiet. The husband was gone most of the day on Saturday, so David and I partook in a few rounds of Trouble, some painting, and lots of stories. On Sunday we enjoyed the beautiful weather and spent some time outside before grilling hamburgers for dinner. Yum.
Book time!

What did you read this week? Let me know in the comments!
Was that recreational painting or decorative. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have an interesting list - most of which I am unfamiliar with. I'm pretty sure I picked up One Thousand Gifts but it may be a few months before I read it!
Enjoy your week.
The painting was recreational and thankfully all stayed on the paper, which is a major feat when discussing a four year old! I got One Thousand Gifts at a conference a few months ago - It wasn't my plan to read it quite yet, but I didn't get to the library this week.
DeleteHave a wonderful week!
You know, I am always intrigued by the variety of books available. I haven't seen or heard of any of the ones on your list. I hope you enjoyed them. Happy reading this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am enjoying them so far. :)
DeleteHappy Reading!
Omg what do you think of Ann Voskamp and one thousand gifts? I thought it was like the book of awesome. At least the premise is the same. Everybody has something to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteI am loving it! I meant to read just a chapter a day and savor it, but it's not really happening that way!
DeleteI've had The Slap on my TBR list for an embarrassingly long time, it sounds so interesting though! Hope you enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteIt does sound really good! I'm interested to see how I will respond to it as a mom. I can't imagine what I would do if someone else hit my kid (even if he was misbehaving)!
DeleteI think One Thousand Gifts looks so good! And what is The Slap? Now that one looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying it so far. Ann Voskamp is a beautiful writer.
DeleteThe Slap is about a party guest who slaps a child not belonging to him. The reader gets the story from several viewpoints. I am excited to read it!
Pretty covers... all new titles to me. My favorite read this week was Sapphique by Catherine Fisher. Please come see what else I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteYou always have such a great selection of books! 'This must be the place' looks like a great read, something I would enjoy. 'The Slap' caught my interest last week and I almost bought it the other day but changed my mind, so I will be interested to hear what you think! Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pamela! I enjoyed This Must Be the Place more than I expected I would! I'm excited to read The Slap, so I will let you know what I think. :)
DeleteHave a wonderful week!
The Slap is polarising - you will either really like it or hate it. I liked it - reluctant to say love as it's not the sort of book you love. It was made into a seven part series in Australia that was brilliant - just one best drama series at our TV Awards - the Logies. Worth checking out after the book if you are able to get hold of it. You can check out my Monday here

That's so cool! Thank you for letting me know about the series.
DeleteI am hoping to bring home some great reads from the library conference that starts tomorrow.

That sounds like so much fun! I feel like being a librarian must be a wonderful job. :)
DeleteHave a great week and a fun time at the conference!
One Thousand Gifts looks like a good read...I'll have to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!

BTW - Your copy of Russian Winter is going on the mail today. Hope you enjoy it!
Hooray! I'm so excited to read Russian Winter. Thanks again for the giveaway.
DeleteI haven't heard of any of these! They look pretty good though! Have a great week and I hope you get all of them finished!
ReplyDeleteThank you! My husband likes to tease me about all of the books I take out from the library. I just told him I could buy them instead...
DeleteNice selection! Happy Reading to you!

Thank you! Happy Reading to you as well!
DeleteAll of your titles are new to me! Thanks for the introduction, and the covers alone look quite enticing.
ReplyDeleteI'm always happy to introduce you to new books! :)
DeleteIt was a romance filled week for me :)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week!
It's Monday! What are you reading at the Brunette Librarian!
That sounds lovely! Happy reading to you too!
DeleteOne Thousand Gifts looks gorgeous! I started to read the Slap but I found that I didn't like any of the characters, so I didn't finish it. I'm quite surprised that it has been so popular. I guess it's because it's controversial.
ReplyDeleteI love the cover too! It makes you feel peaceful and hopeful before even opening the cover.
DeleteI'm hearing so much about The Slap (good and bad). I am definitely intrigued!
I've heard very mixed reviews of The Slap, so I'll be interested to see what you think. Have a great week :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sophia! I hope you have a great week too. :)
DeleteOh, I loved Moon Palace by Paul Auster, I'm looking forward to your review on Oracle Night!
ReplyDeleteThank you! He is a new author for me, so I'm excited.
DeleteThanks so much for dropping by and visiting me.
ReplyDeleteI read The Slap a couple of years ago and quite enjoyed it.
I love visiting your site. You have the most amazing pictures!
DeleteThank goodness for the "It's Monday" meme. :)
The Slap is a very interesting read, I look forward to seeing what you think of it!
