It's Monday and there are books and birthdays and things!

Happy Monday (or Sunday, depending on when you are reading this)! How was your week? The second half of this week was decidedly preferable since the first half involved a nasty stomach bug. This weekend, we had our baby shower which means that our house is full of onesies and giant boxes of diapers. It's time to do some major rearranging and organizing to find a home for all of this stuff before baby arrives!

Oh, and it's almost my birthday! I think I must be getting older, or at least preoccupied with the upcoming baby, because I sort of forgot it was coming up. Friday will be my birthday, on Saturday we will readathon, and then I will be celebrating with the family on Sunday and Monday. It looks like a good weekend to me! Baby has strict instructions that she is not allowed to come until May. I may be a grownup, but I still don't want to share my birthday!

    1. I am enjoying it so far. It's so interesting to see which books have really long waits at the library - sometimes it's not the ones you expect!

  7. One day I shall read Neil Gaimon's 'American Gods', because it's my friend's favourite novel. StarDust won't be far behind because I'm thinking a book is usually better than the movie and some of the backdrops in that were incredible. :-) Have a great reading week!

  8. I really enjoyed Z when I read it. Also, I think Marilynne Robinson is one of the best writers we have in the US today. She's a little difficult, at least for me, but so worth the effort.

    1. Yes, Robinson is incredibly talented. Have you read her non-fiction or just her novels?

  10. Happy early birthday! I really want to read both Z and Gilead...so I'll be curious to hear what you had to say. I think I've said this like 3 times now but I think the unchangeable spots of leopards sounds really good! Have you seen the movie Stardust or are you reading the book before seeing the movie?
