It's Monday and summer is here!

This was a very momentous week around here. David finished his first year of school. Kindergarten is over and we have two months of summer fun ahead! First day and last day of school photos are below. I will just be sitting here sniffling (or trying to figure out what in the world we are going to do all summer!).

  1. Ah, lovely pictures! My youngest finished 6th grade this year and "graduated" from elementary school last week... that was quite a reason for a few sniffles. Can't stop the kids from growing. :) I LOVED Frog Music... but most in my book club did not like it. Interested to hear what you think.

    1. That definitely sounds like a tissue-worthy occasion!

I'm excited to start Frog Music. I have high hopes! :)

    2. It was, indeed, tissue-worthy .... all these moments are, aren't they? But there are always many more special moments to come. :)

  2. Very nice pics of your boy! My son just graduated college last year and I made a photo where I put his first day of kindergarten on one side and his last day of college on the other, holding a backpack and standing on the steps in the same position. To look at that made me cry. Since you love to take photos of the kids, you should take his picture every first day of school and make a collage of them :)
on the book front, I wanted to read Now I See You. Will look for your review.
    Have a good week!

    1. That's a great idea! I recently saw a picture of a high school senior who had a special t-shirt made for his last day of school. The picture on it was him wearing a similar outfit on his first day of preschool. :)

  4. Even if you don't do lots of extra things, you can still spend the time together. Sometimes I think we plan too many things, and forget to enjoy the moment.

    1. You make a great point. I think (as usual) we are trying to find the balance between doing things and just enjoying summer!

  6. Love those first and last day of school photos. I even got going off to college and returning home photos! The son that lived at home and commuted was easier to accomplish. Enjoy your summer together.

    1. It's a great tradition, isn't it?? It must be so cool to compare the photos from all of those years. :)

  8. Great pictures! My daughters finished kindergarten on Friday, and I was teary all day! They started camp yesterday.

I hope you enjoy Frog Music. I loved it (though I did take issue with the way Donoghue characterizes Blanche's profession; I wrote about it on May 19th).

    1. 1st grade just seems so big, doesn't it? Kindergarten means that your kids are still sort of little...but first grade is the big time!

I will have to check out your thoughts when I am done with Frog Music. :)
