Holy cow, this week went by quickly! On top of the usual schedule, I've been trying to get some things cleaned and organized before David gets out of school (only two half days left!). We also had a family birthday this weekend and two church services on Sunday. I feel like my reading is really slacking and I'm tempted to say that it will pick up in the next week or two. But when I think about the two active kiddos that I will be spending every day wrangling, I'm not so sure that will be the case!
Read This Week:
The Rise and Fall of Great Powers
By Tom Rachman
Posts from this Past Week:
It's Monday
Wednesdays with David: Lego Chima
Reviews of Astonish Me, Chasing God, and Orfeo
Reading Now:
Moby-Dick
By Herman Melville
Wild Things: The Art of Raising Boys
By Stephen Jame and David Thomas
Up Next:
Now I See You
By Nicole C Kear
What are you reading this week?
It is hard to read Moby Dick WITHOUT two kids to wrangle! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteHere's my It's Monday!
Haha, that is true! I'm taking it a little bit at a time, so I think it will be ok...at least until I have to take it back to the library!
DeleteI didn't read his last book, but I've been very curious about The Rise and Fall of Great Powers. Looking forward to seeing what you thought!
ReplyDeleteHis debut is one of my favorites. I hope you get a chance to read one of his books!
DeleteGood luck fitting reading around kid wrangling. I suppose they are too old for naps... Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteOne is too old, but the other is still a napper. Of course, that makes it even more fun because you try to keep one quiet while the other sleeps...Happy reading to you too!
DeleteI'll have to check out that book about boys. I need help in that area! :P
ReplyDeleteI think we all do! They are crazy, wonderful little things, aren't they?
DeleteENJOY the kiddos. The books can wait. :)
ReplyDeleteI know - easier said than done. Books are our second love next to our kids.
You will find time.
ENJOY your week and your summer. Wild Things looks fun. Now I See You looks interesting too.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
I know I will. It wasn't so much that I didn't read at all, but it didn't feel like I was making too much progress.
DeleteThe days are long, but the years are short. :)
Hope you enjoy having your two cuties home for the summer! My two youngest kids are 19 months apart and I when they were very little I gave up reading anything but kids books, except for about an hour at night, but then I would fall asleep with the book on my lap every time :) I will be interested in your review of Tom Rachman's book. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI can certainly relate! I tend to get some snippets of reading done during the day here and there, but it's nice to sit down and read uninterrupted...if you can stay awake!
DeleteMoby Dick is on my list to reread--I really feel like you have to read it more than once. There's also a new book out by Nathaniel Philbrick called Why Read Moby Dick: I'd like to read that one.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you think that! It's a very dense book. Perhaps you could read Moby Dick and the Philbrick book side by side!
