It's Monday. Happy Labor Day!

Hi again, bookish friends! I hope you are enjoying your long weekends. It's going to be pretty laid back around here. We have plans for a big breakfast of pancakes and eggs and pulled bbq chicken in the crockpot for dinner. I may set up the kiddie pool in the backyard and I plan to let everyone relax for the day. Then Tuesday will be the first day of third grade for my kiddo!

This week I read Amy Snowwhich was a bit long but still a good read. Then I switched up my intended schedule and read Homegoing, since it needs to go back to the library and then go home with some other lucky reader.

Next I'm planning to read Madeleine L'Engle's Certain Women (for real this time) and then I'm going to read Smoke, which is about an alternate version of England where smoke is emitted from people who do or think evil.

What are your Labor Day plans? What are you reading this week?

  2. Sounds like a great long weekend, food and family time - a great combination. Best wishes to your child starting third grade. I am counting down to our own long weekend over here in about 3 weeks time plus school holidays.

I agree with you over Amy Snow. I enjoyed it but it took me longer to read than I usually do.

Smoke looks interesting. Have a lovely reading week!

No big plans here besides not working, which is always wonderful!

  9. Oh, Homegoing!! I read the first chapter/story before the library ebook disappeared from my kindle - it was excellent! Now I need to get back on the hold list.

    1. There was a fairly long hold list at my library too. It's worth the wait, I promise!

    1. Thanks so much Julie!! How is this week for you, being home with your little one instead of going back to teach?

    2. The first day of school was really weird. But I've decided to volunteer in the school library on Wednesdays, so that'll keep me around the kids - and give me some other interaction besides my little guy! :)
