It's Monday - What are you reading?

Friends, I feel like I am reading and reading and just not finishing anything. I would like to place the blame for this predicament firmly on the shoulders of one Charles Dickens. I mean, come on, I know it's your 200th birthday and I know young David C is delightful, but your almost 900 page novel is taking me FOREVER to finish.

Alright, enough whining from yours truly. Now we shall talk about books! Hooray!

Read Last Week:
A Room With a View
By E.M. Forster

Reading Now:
Case Histories
By Kate Atkinson

David Copperfield
By Charles Dickens

Posts from This Week:

Next Up:
Life of Pi
by Yann Martel

The Baker's Daughter
By Sarah McCoy

So what are you reading right now? Comment away, friends!

P.S. It's not too late to join me in reading F. Scott Fitzgerald this year! This month, I'm reading Flappers and Philosophers, a short story collection. I will be posting about it next Tuesday!

  1. Thats funny, I blamed Jane Eyre and the Stephen King Novel 11-22-63 for my lack of output :) Big books... UGH!

    1. But the feeling of accomplishment when you finally finish is so nice!

  2. Big books can slow things down. I just finished The Theft of Swords which was really two books - 704 pages. Fortunately it read fast.
Now I am reading The Canker Death which is pretty long on Kindle.
I haven't read Copperfield since college days and I'm not sure I would want to. :-) So I think you are brave.
I have Life of Pi on Audible but no time to get to it for another month or so.
    Have a great week.

    1. I feel like I'm the last person in the world to read Life of Pi. I'm glad you haven't read it yet either! Have a wonderful week. :)

  3. I struggle with Dickens. Kudos to you for simply starting it I say! Life of Pi is one of my all time favourite books. Check out my Monday here:

    1. I was sort of challenging myself. I really had to convince myself to finish Great Expectations, but Copperfield was pretty good.

  4. Love Dickens, but it does take awhile to get through such dense prose. I started reading Dombey and Son a few weeks ago, but I put it aside becasue I didn't have the patience for it. I feel the same about Austen but I am giving Emma a go at the moment, and already I'm finding it a drag. Oh well...

    1. I'm not really an Austen fan myself (please no throwing of produce, anyone!). I understand why she's considered a great, but it's not a major concern for me to read all of her books.

  5. Good luck finishing Dickens! I've never really read anything by him, other than the obligatory Oliver Twist my freshman year of high school. In fact, that was probably only an excerpt, huh? Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

  7. Wow. Some very heavy books in there. I need to read some more Dickens soon. Perhaps, A Tale of Two Cities. I've never picked that one up.

    1. I haven't read A Tale of Two Cities either, but I won a copy of it recently. I think I will be taking a break before tackling another Dickens, though!

  8. I have a very difficult time with Dickens as well. I haven't even tried David Copperfield. I loved A Tale of Two Cities, but haven't been able to get myself through anything else...well, I did back in high school, but I had to so I don't feel like it counts. I need to make myself try again.

    1. That's what I did. I had the hardest time getting through Great Expectations. It had been a few years, so I decided it was time to give Dickens another try.
