It's Monday and I love that my kids are friends

Right now, I am sitting in our library and watching across the hall where the big boy is playing a video game and the little girl is watching with rapt attention. I love watching the two of them adore each other. This morning was church, where I had some more music than usual to play/sing. Then the whole family went out to lunch and I managed to sneak in a nap while the little girl took hers. Naps are just the happiest of things. I feel so ready to tackle a new week with an extra hour of sleep under my belt.

The books! The books! It's time to discuss books! (sung like "Tonight" from West Side Story)

This week, I adored When The Moon is Low and read The Watchmaker of Filigree Street. It took me a while to really get into the second one but, by the last hundred pages or so, I was staying up much too late to get some more reading in.

On the blog, I wrote about going to Sesame Place, my favorite books in July, and reviewed Murder on the Orient Express and The Last Bookaneer.

Now I'm excited to read Annie Barrow's The Truth According to Us and have decided to read Vampires in the Lemon Grove, so I can finally return it to my sister who kindly lent it to me.

    My sister and I fought a lot growing up. Seems like most siblings do, so it's nice that you have kids who are friends and that you get calm moments sometimes.

      I wonder if sisters fight more than brothers and sisters. I have three sisters and we remember always fighting with the sister immediately older or younger than us.

      I do appreciate those moments of quiet though...at least before the crying or arguing begins! :)

    I took myself away from the blogging community after wondering whether I'd overshared, and have got back to purely book blogging, and am loving 'rediscovering' favourites.

    Naps are like gold dust with a toddler, and when you sneak one in yourself it's just amazing, isn't it?!

    I hope those days of kids getting along last for you for a very long time! :) I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of The Truth According to Us. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I'm very excited about this one!

    Isn't it magical when the kids start playing together? Evie is just now getting to the age where she is interested in playing WITH someone...rather than independently side by side and it's golden. I can breath...I can make dinner...I'm just going to eat it up for the next 5 months. How far apart in age are your kiddos?

    And this: "Naps are just the happiest of things" :) Yes.

    I'd love to hear more about When The Moon is Low!

      Yes, the playing together is so fun. D will be 8 in December and BG turned 2 in May, so they are about 5 /12 years apart. I think it will seem a bigger gap when they're older, but for now it's a lot of following the leader and imitating big brother, for better or for worse!
