It's Monday and we found our Little Free Library!

Hello ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the part of our show when we talk about what we have been doing and reading this week.

This was a fairly normal week with the exception of Wednesday. Because husband is a pastor, Wednesday is kind of our first day of the weekend (just stuck in the middle of the workweek). D had off from school this Wednesday, so we were able to get in some great family time. We went to brunch at the always delicious Turning Point and embarked on an adventure to find our nearest Little Free Library. It's wonderfully close and we donated some books and each of the kiddos came away with a new read or three...

This week, I devoured the very readable A Window Opens and then read Truth and Beauty, which broke my heart a bit and confirmed that I would read Ann Patchett's grocery list. Just this afternoon (Sunday), I finished The Hummingbird, which is my favorite kind of historical fiction - the kind based on a true story and real people. On the blog, I reviewed I Am Malala, A Marriage of Opposites, and The Last Policeman.

Upcoming reads include All We Have Is Now and A Monster Calls so I am jumping on the YA train for the next few days!

What are you reading this week?

  2. I haven't read anything by Ann Patchett yet, but I think I'll request something of hers from the library today. I'm going on a a mini vacation next week with my roommates, and one of our stops is going to be her bookstore, Parnassus Books.

    1. Yes!!! Read all the Ann Patchett. I'm so jealous you are going to Parnassus. I got a book from them once and even the packaging and presentation were gorgeous!

  3. I love the idea behind the Little Free Libraries.

It sounds like you had a good reading week - I'll have to look in to Ann Patchett's writing after that testament of happily reading her grocery list. Haha!

I hope you enjoy A Monster Calls! Happy reading!

  6. Oooh....lucky you! I have read all about Little Free Libraries but have never actually seen one in person! Sounds like a fun adventure - I will have to do that one day. I would love to start one of my own, but we live at the end of a cul-de-sac in a small neighborhood - not a lot of traffic (though we do have a neighborhood book group!)

What a wonderful assortment of books you've been reading lately! I love Ann Patchett, too, and I would love to read I Am Malala.

Enjoy your books this week -

    1. Maybe your whole book group could start one! Then you wouldn't be the only one stocking it and you could put it at a more centrally located spot. :)

  7. We were talking about the Free Little Libraries tonight at our book club meeting. I have never seen one either, but the ladies said there are four of them in the neighborhood. :)

All three of your books look good. I heard A Window Opens is very good. I have the book but haven't gotten to it.

Looks as if you had a good week.

I hope you have a good week this week.

    1. It's such a great idea! I found three that aren't too far from our house. We might venture out to some of the others one of these days.

They are also a good place to donate all of those ARCs you aren't going to keep!
