It's Monday again! Holy cow!

Wow, this week sped by. What happened?!?

We had a normal sort of week with rehearsals and lessons. D has his book fair this week and I went with him. It was lots of fun and reminded me of my own excitement over book fair day when I was a kid. On Saturday, we celebrated my dad's birthday with the whole family. He decided that instead of presents this year, he wants us to chip in so he can donate a cow via World Vision. So we threw him a cow-themed birthday party, compete with a pinata and pin the tail on the cow.

    1. It was a fun read! It is reminding me that I should go back and revisit some of the characters I loved as a girl and as a teen.

  3. That's a lovely thing for him to suggest, and a lovely thing to do.
I agree with your comment about how fast the weeks seem to go by at the moment.
I'm glad you loved The Guernsey... book, it's a while since I read it but I kept my copy and remember it fondly.

    1. Thanks Lindsay! Our family has been sponsoring children through that organization for years and I love that they have a gift catalog, where you can pick out things like school supplies, a share in building a new well, and well...cows. :)

I've been hearing that from so many people! I have no idea why I waited so long to read that book.

  4. I always loved book fair day. The excitement of flipping through the catalog, circling my favorite things, and begging my grandma for money was like nothing else. Glad book fairs are still around.

    1. Me too! It's pretty fun to watch your kid be excited about something you loved as a child.

  5. Will this be your first Adichie or have you read anything else by her? Curious what you will make of her collection. I am currently making my way through Half of a Yellow Sun and its fantastic so far.

    1. It's my first time, but it certainly won't be my last! Is Half of a Yellow Sun your first time reading her work?

    3. Yep, first time encountering her writing as well. I'm about half-way through now and it's so haunting, tragic and yet, beautiful. I don't want to jump to any conclusions just yet but I may have discovered a new author to add to my favorites list.

  6. Ha! I loved your dad's bday gift idea and the cow themed bday party! I've heard good things about Vanessa and Her Sister and I'm keeping it in mind for Nonfiction November.

    1. I think it's historical fiction. Does that still work for your Nonfiction November challenge??

    1. I really liked it. I think my favorite part was actually learning about new heroines to love, as I hadn't read all of the books she mentioned!

  9. You always seem to have the most interesting, and varied, book choices. I can't come away without at least one title added to my list of interest!

That sounds like such a fun party for your dad!

February was such a rubbish reading month for me - I'm making efforts to rectify that this month because I've missed reading! I'm currently reading the first of my classic club reads - The Talented Mr Ripley.

I think February was just a rubbish month altogether. I hope this month is better for you!
