In the past seven days, I read the newest volume of Saga, finally picked up The Only Ones (which has been sitting on my shelf for too long), and read Elizabeth Gilbert's Big Magic. I'm still hanging out with Alexander Hamilton, along with the other ladies and gents doing the readalong at Reading Rambo. Goodreads tells me that I am about a quarter of the way through this 800 page behemoth.
This week, I'm picking up The Queen of the Night. It's coming out in a few weeks and has been getting a lot of positive buzz. Then I'm going to my own shelves to finally read The Memory Keeper's Daughter.
What are you reading this week?
I like the cover on The Only Ones. I hope you enjoy reading it. I will be watching for your review on it.ReplyDelete
Theresa (The Truth About Books)
Here is my Monday read
I did really like it. It took me a while to get into it, but then I was hooked!Delete
What a lovely way to spend a Sunday. Books are looking good. So did Big Magic Live up to your pre reading ideas?ReplyDelete
It was a really good day, and I think we all needed to relax a little bit!Delete
Well, I liked parts of Big Magic. There were other portions that were a little bit out there for my personal tastes...
The Queen of the Night looks great. I hope you enjoy your books!ReplyDelete
My It's Monday! What Are You Reading? post
Thank you! I'm excited to start it (hopefully today).Delete
The Memory Keeper's Daughter looks like a book I'd enjoy. I also finished reading Big Magic a few weeks ago, but found it isn't much to my liking, but I can see its potential widespread appeal primarily because of its readability.ReplyDelete
I agree! Gilbert said some thing that I think were really important, but there were other sections that just didn't resonate with me.Delete
It sounds like you had a good reading week last week, with some intriguing books coming up this week.ReplyDelete
Will you be reviewing Big Magic? I've been seeing it about a lot and I'm keen to check it out but more opinions always helps.
Sounds like you had a nice relaxing weekend. A lot of the UK had snow over this past weekend, but not here where I am in Wales. We just had rain, and we have rain pretty much every day so makes no change.
Reading With Jade
I might write a mini-review before taking Big Magic back to the library. It wasn't great for me, but I understand why a lot of people love it.Delete
Sorry you haven't had any snow by you yet. Or are you happy with your rain and warmer temperatures? :)
A little snow wouldn't go amiss :-PDelete
Well I never saw any of those before but I hope you like them all!!ReplyDelete
Love the look of The Queen of the Night. Hope you will enjoy it.ReplyDelete
Me too! I'm definitely getting a Phantom of the Opera vibe, which would make me a happy reader!Delete
I love your idea of a nonchalant snow day. That's the way to do it. Oh, thank you for exposing me to The Queen of the Night. I am adding that to my TBR!ReplyDelete
So far it's great in a "I don't want to go to sleep because I could read more chapters!" kind of way.Delete
Your Sunday was similar to mine. I like the variety of books on your stack. Here is what I read last week. Happy reading!ReplyDelete
Thanks Kathy, I try to mix up my reading a bit. I find it more interesting that way and it helps me to keep them all straight in my brain! :)Delete
Alexander Hamilton seems to be having quite a moment! Anything that gets more nonfiction into people's hands is A-OK with me :)ReplyDelete
He certainly is! I was pulled in by the musical, like many other people. But now that I am reading the biography, I think I would have enjoyed it even without songs running in the back of my mind!Delete
I've been so curious about The Only Ones! I checked it out from the library a while back, but ended up having to return it before I could read it.ReplyDelete
It took me a while to get into it. I think it was because the narrator herself either doesn't know what is going on or doesn't want to tell you. But when I got into it, I couldn't put it down!Delete
Ooh I've been keeping my eye on Queen of the Night. But once again have far too many things to read already... will wait!ReplyDelete
Also pancakes for dinner are the best.
I know the feeling! I keep thinking my shelf of books to be read or my list of books should start shrinking at some point, but it hasn't happened yet!Delete
Ooooh, looks like you have some great reading ahead and yay for snow, naps and pancakes! That sounds delightful, especially since you don't have to get out of the house! :)ReplyDelete
I like snow a lot, when I don't have to worry about driving somewhere in it! :)Delete
I have never read The Memory Keeper's Daughter.ReplyDelete
I hope you are enjoying your reading week, and all of your books are good.
My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
I've heard about it and I think there was a tv movie made at one point, but this will be my first time reading it!Delete
I have The Memory Keeper's Daughter on my kindle that I've been meaning to read forever. I hope you enjoy your reading!ReplyDelete
Thanks, Melinda! I hope you enjoy your books this week too!Delete
