It's Monday and I am at peak introvert

Hello there, new week!

I am writing this from a comfy spot on my couch, ready to relax away the rest of this evening. Husband and I are ready to be our best introverts after a day full of church, kids, and visits with family. Are there any other introverts out there with tips for living with extrovert children?

Next, I'm planning to read Paper and Fire, book 2 in the Great Library series. Then I'm picking up My Name is Asher Lev, because somehow I haven't read this one yet!

What are you reading this week?

  1. I can't help you with the little kids question, as my youngest is in her 20's :) but I do have some extrovert dogs, lol, who keep asking for trips outside to the yard, treats, play, etc. when all I wanted to do yesterday and today is plop on the couch and watch tv.

Maybe do what my elder daughter does-- she keeps a small box in the closet with some of the kids' toys that she "steals" from their toybox. Then when they are bored, she takes out the box and the kids are excited to see beloved toys that they haven't seen for awhile. That way you don't have to bribe them with a new toy!

I would like to read Underground Airlines, but haven't seen any buzz about it and am curious if it's worth picking up. Wonder what you thought of it...

    1. That's a great idea! I have been doing "quiet time" while the little one naps. I tell my son that it's time to read or play quietly in his room. It gets me a quiet hour or two each day, thank goodness!

I really liked it. There's actually been a bit of buzz, both because people like the book and because it's a white male author writing about a present in which there is still slavery in some US states. I would recommend it!

    1. They are good. I find that older books are slower reads for me, but I'm enjoying the change of pace!

  4. I get the introvert thing, sometimes you just need to veg and read or watch or something. A quiet evening after a busy day is always a good thing! I hope your books are good, I think Paper and Fire (and that whole great library concept) sound really good.

    1. Yes! That quiet time becomes so much more precious when you have little people in your house.

  5. I'm probably one of the most introverted people, and my son definitely takes after his dad in terms of being extroverted, so I'd be keen on those tips too! It's a balance, that's for sure.

I've heard The Great Library series - I need to check that out. I hope you enjoy your reads!

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one! Parenting can just take so much out of you. I am very fond of that quiet time at the end of the day!

  6. Oooh....wow, you have some of the hottest new releases going! I'm jealous :)

I am naturally very extroverted (husband is def introverted), as our both sons. But chronic illness has turned me into a part-time introvert! Same feelings as you - we had a houseful all weekend with everyone home, went to a graduation party, etc. So by Monday morning, I was loving the quiet solitude!

Enjoy your books this week -
